Penobscot Job Corps Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physician (MD/DO) or Nurse Practitioner to join our on-site health team. This is a meaningful opportunity to provide care in a low-volume, student-centered ambulatory clinic, serving individuals ages 16–24 who are enrolled in a federally funded vocational training program.
You’ll provide direct medical services, guide health policy, and support a wellness-focused model that integrates medical, behavioral, and health education services on a dynamic campus setting.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver primary care in an ambulatory clinic setting, including exams, treatment, preventive care, and urgent care
- Conduct entry health screenings for new students (cursory and full exams)
- Supervise and advise healthcare personnel on clinical care and protocols
- Collaborate with the Health & Wellness Manager, Center Director, and Mental Health Consultant to maintain a high standard of student care
- Provide on-call availability for brief phone consultations when not on-site
- Contribute to quality assurance, care guideline reviews, and continuing education efforts
- Support infectious disease control, vaccination efforts, and student health education
- Guide referrals for specialized or emergency care when needed
Qualifications
- Current license to practice medicine or advanced nursing in the State of Maine
- MD, DO, or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with experience in adolescent/young adult medicine preferred
- Ability to work independently in a collaborative, mission-driven environment
- Familiarity with ambulatory care, school-based health, or community health is a plus
- Experience working with underserved or transitional-age populations a plus
