JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist will participate in the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including talent acquisition, performance management, benefits, and leave administration. This position will work closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer in developing, implementing, and evaluating HR policies, programs, functions and activities. Additionally, this position serves as the HR partner for the Corrections team, working closely with the Chief Corrections Administrator to provide HR guidance and support.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field strongly preferred
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources, to include benefits management, leave administration, and talent acquisition experience.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Previous experience working with Paycom strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and trends.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, computer, and public speaking.
- Demonstrated understanding of privacy rights. Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all medical, financial, and other sensitive materials, whether electronic, printed or otherwise.
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
- Must demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) in the design, implementation and evaluation of programs and policies to help improve the employee experience.
- Responsible for the recruitment of all positions, offering proactive recruiting assistance to Departmental Directors, Managers and Supervisors – this includes pre-screening candidates, conducting screening interviews, partnering on in-person interviews, and extending offers of employment.
- Responsible for the entire on-boarding process of new employees, including ordering background checks and drug screens, I-9 completion, gathering all employment paperwork, and coordinating the set-up of computer and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) access.
- Attends job fairs and collaborates with staffing agencies.
- Manages the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Manages employee benefit programs, including educating employees and answering questions, processing elections and changes in Paycom, ensuring changes are entered into Paycom for open enrollment, and reconciles benefits statements for processing with Finance department.
- Coordinates the performance evaluation program, to include assigning reviews, tracking reviews to ensure completion in a timely manner, reviewing and processing compensation adjustments while ensuring compliance with policy, and partnering with the CHRO to address exceptions as necessary.
- Manages the FMLA process, including ensuring all required documentation is supplied within the appropriate timelines, requesting additional information when needed, approving/denying requests, keeping managers informed, updating Paycom, and tracking available/remaining time.
- Processes all Workers Compensation claims, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met and employees are sent for treatment and drug screening when required.
- Tracks all reportable injuries on OHSA logs and completes and posts OSHA 300 logs on an annual basis.
- Conducts new employee Orientation, reinforcing commitment to all corporate culture and values.
- Promotes organizational and staff development.
- Helps identify participants in and for leadership development programs.
- Demonstrates professional demeanor in appearance and behavior, and in all work-related interactions inside and outside of the health centers.
- Serves as the backup to the CHRO in their absence.
- Participates in special projects as requested.
- Serves as the HR partner for the Corrections team, working closely with the Chief Corrections Administrator to provide employee relations guidance to supervisors and managers in the form of coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions.
- Keeps CHRO abreast of any issues or concerns within the Corrections team and seeks the support and guidance of the CHRO when dealing with complex issues or concerns that may have legal implications.
- Revises job descriptions upon request and as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the CHRO.
