What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Scheduler position at Heart & Vascular Partners?
As a Medical Scheduler, you will be responsible for managing a high volume of calls from patients needing to schedule appointments and outreach calls to coordinate scheduling of cardiology related procedures.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Serves as the first contact for patient care by scheduling and confirming patient appointments, follow-up testing, check-ups, and physician referrals via telephone
- Managing provider surgical orders. Calling patients and coordinating scheduling with hospital system
- Collects and accurately verifies of patient insurance and demographic information
- Manage daily in basket of tasks to support patient and provider needs
- Monitor prior authorizations for both imaging requests and procedures
- Schedulers may engage in rescheduling, follow up appointments, new patient referrals, or procedure/diagnostic scheduling
- Some schedulers may support scheduling utilizing QGenda or Amion to manage resources efficiently.
- Working closely with our MSO team members at Heart and Vascular Partners on billing, benefits and prior authorizations
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience in a medical environment with familiarization with terminology and sense of pace.
- Experience with EMR
- Experience in Microsoft Office products
Desired Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience in medical scheduling
Physical Requirements
This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a typical medical clinic and/or business office environment.
