What are the responsibilities and job description for the Phone Triage Representative position at Heart & Vascular Partners?
The Telephone Triage role is primary responsible for answering telephone to
assist in meeting the patient’s needs. Duties include but are not limited to scheduling appointments for multiple Cardiologist and various departments, assess heart rate, blood pressure, medication refills.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Answer telephones in the telephone triage department as required to respond to inquiries made by patients and other physicians’ offices and other medical facilities.
- Screen and route patient calls to other departments efficiently, when needed.
- Complete detailed patient phone notes and flags and send them to appropriate staff.
- Responsible for scheduling new, current, follow –up, rescheduling, and canceling patient
appointments and testing for 14 Physicians, and various departments. - Complete new patient registration using computerized automated scheduling system.
- Identifying patient needs clarifying information requested.
- Mailing patient instructions for testing as requested.
- Complete new hospital consults form as requested.
- Collect all necessary demographic information including insurance data.
- Fax appropriate medical documentation as requested by other physicians’ offices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school or GED required.
- Computer knowledge required; electronic medical records (EMR) highly preferred.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated individual.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
- Multilingual and American Sign Language (ASL) a plus!
- Required sitting for a prolonged period, answering calls and reading computer screen.
Work Environment
This position and will report to the office Monday- Friday from 6:30 am – 5:00 PM.
Physical Requirements
This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
