Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:30AM - 5:00PM

Location: 4009 N Broadway, Chicago IL 60613- 5501 S Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60621, Home Office.

Heartland Alliance Health’s (HAH) mission is to transform healthcare for the most vulnerable – particularly people experiencing homelessness, mental illness or addictions, or struggling with multiple chronic illnesses – improving health for all and the well-being of our community.

The Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) will lead Heartland Alliance Health’s (HAH) strategy to grow our annual revenue to meet the demand for the national healthcare changes anticipated over the coming years. The CTO is responsible for implementing the Board of Director’s overall vision of the organization. The role will focus on exploring, designing, and maintaining partnerships with community stake holders that bring recurring revenue, raise awareness and influence, and grow our community. Examples of these initiatives include bringing together partners around primary care and specialty services within HAH approved scope of practice.

The CTO will act as an orchestra conductor for the executive team and the board of directors, leading the strategy for how to leverage the organization’s greatest assets to realize our vision. The CTO will report to and collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer to deepen community relationships and cultivate new partners. The focus is to have the ability to conceptualize and formulate strategic initiatives that further the mission and ensure that the day-to-day activities of the organization support these initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities


The ideal candidate will be benevolently fierce, comfortable with risk and speed, able to quickly create and re-calibrate, and will possess a strong sense of adventure. This is a role for someone with an innovative hunger of passion to change the healthcare system within the communities. The need to understand the intersecting needs of stakeholders and how to create opportunities for compelling and effective multi-player partnerships that advance HAH. The CTO must be someone who helps others visualize what is possible and their role in it. Outstanding in their interpersonal skills they must be a strategic thinker with a high level of detail orientation. There must be a deep sense of urgency and passion for uninsured and underserved residents within the communities.

  • Assists the CEO with establishing current and long-range objectives, plans, and policies, as approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Monitors the on-going performance of the organization, its functional units and departments, and its staff; initiates corrective action as necessary in response to less-than-optimal performance.
  • Ensures that each site and program is appropriately staffed and runs efficiently and effectively, in accordance with standard work.
Qualifications
  • Ten years of experience in strategic planning, business management, leadership decision- making.
    • Preference given to applicants who have experience in healthcare and managed care setting.
      • Strong working knowledge of management strategies, customer relations and implementation of new technologies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship development skills, strong analytical and project management abilities, and exceptional creativity and problem solving-skills.
    • An innovative person who can build and lead a resourceful team.
Required education, experience, training
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration or finance.
  • Five years of management experience in healthcare or an integrated healthcare system.
  • Demonstrate success in budgeting and monitoring financial performance.
  • Excellent writing skills, with a high level of attention to detail required.
    • Ability to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal relationships, and the application of sound administrative principles.

  • Business development lead for a start-up.
  • Involved in healthcare product development efforts, including cost-effective behavioral health, wellness, EMR's and telemedicine.
  • Full-risk financial solutions with payers, disease management efforts, non-traditional treatment services.
  • Experience in strategic planning, mergers, acquisitions and capital generation for organizations.

Travel: This position must be able to work at multiple locations throughout the Chicagoland area.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write reports that present data and other information in a logical and cogent manner. Ability to make clear, concise and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Salary : $95,000 - $110,000
