Position Summary:
The Farm Equipment Technician position will play a significant role in the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment operated and used on the farm. Working with our equipment maintenance team, The Farm Equipment Technician will work alongside Shop and Field Supervisors and Farm Managers on all aspects of the operations and maintenance of tractors, implements, and heavy equipment at Heartland Farms, Inc.
Duties:
- Diagnose, repair and maintain farm equipment both in the shop and in the field; (65%)
- Operate various types of farm equipment. (10%)
- Assist in shipping and handling potato crops throughout the year. (10%)
- Assist in Seed Cutting, Planting, and Harvest operations, as is needed; (15%)
- Maintain a clean, safe, and functional Parts Department;
- Other duties as assigned by the Management.
Qualifications:
- Technical Degree or Certificate in Equipment Maintenance preferred;
- 2-4 Years of experience maintaining agricultural equipment, preferred;
- Computer, mobile device and parts inventory systems operations experience, preferred;
- Self-Starter & able to work independently and collaboratively;
- Detail-oriented & goal driven.

- Hydraulic maintenance & repair;
- Farm Equipment maintenance & repair;
- Equipment parts inventory & purchasing;
Work Schedule:
The Farm Equipment Technician’s schedule is highly dependent on the time of year and weather conditions. Employees will be expected to work as needed, which will require a great deal of flexibility as to the hours per day/week and the times worked. This is particularly true during our peak periods of Seed Cutting, Planting, and Harvest seasons. Typically, Farm Equipment Technicians work from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, M-F
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to work on-site and in multiple locations and settings.
- Requires the ability to interact confidently and effectively with vendors, management and employees.
- Requires the ability to clearly understand verbal and written communication from others in person and by telephone.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Have the ability to travel by vehicle or air 10% of the time.
