Job Overview:
Assist people who have developmental disabilities in acquiring and/or maintaining independent living skills, personal habits and positive attitudes that will enable them to maintain and/or enhance independence. Provide the level of supervision required assuring that each person's health and safety needs are met as they take part in learning and community activities. Must be eager to learn, interact with consumers, and must be patient. Must have a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, be able to pass a background screening, have your own reliable transportation, proof of current car insurance and have a working phone.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with daily activities such as personal care, hygiene, and mobility
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents
- Support residents' rights and independence
- Implement behavior management strategies as needed
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in direct support staff or related fields
- Understanding of resident rights and dignity
- Ability to provide compassionate and respectful care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
