Heartlight Ministries is seeking a dedicated Horse Wrangler to join our team and help ensure our horses are well-cared for and ready to serve in our residential program for teens. About Us: Heartlight Ministries is one of the nation’s leading Christian Residential Counseling Centers for struggling teens. Established in 1988, we’ve helped thousands of teenagers find healing and purpose. Through our equine therapy program, horses play a crucial role in supporting the emotional and mental growth of our residents. Our goal is to provide a safe haven for young people to experience personal growth, and as a Horse Wrangler, you’ll be an integral part of this journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Horse Care & Health: Oversee the day-to-day care of all horses, including feeding, grooming, and general health monitoring.
Veterinary & Medical Needs: Collaborate with the Equine Director to ensure that each horse’s medical needs are met. This includes scheduling and assisting with vet visits, vaccinations, worming, teeth floating, hoof trimming, and reporting any concerns promptly.
Barn Maintenance: Ensure the barn is clean, organized, and in good working order. Maintain and oil saddles and tack. Keep the facility neat and safe for both horses and residents.
Fencing & Safety: Oversee the upkeep of fencing to ensure it provides adequate protection and containment for the horses.
Nutritional Needs: Adjust and oversee the feeding of the horses, ensuring their diets and supplements are tailored to their weight, digestive needs, and overall health.
Horse Riding & Training: Ride horses individually to ensure they are well-trained and prepared for interactions with Heartlight’s residents. Maintain a strong bond with each horse, understanding their unique temperament and needs.
Supervising Horse Interactions: Ensure that the horses are ready to be used in our equine therapy program, engaging safely with teens in a controlled manner.
Personal & Relational Responsibilities:
Build strong, caring relationships with each of the horses, understanding their unique behaviors and personalities.
Participate in team activities and support the overall mission of Heartlight Ministries.
Work closely with residential staff to integrate horses into therapeutic programs and support the emotional development of the teens in our care.
Be a positive role model for teens, demonstrating patience, empathy, and dedication to both the horses and the ministry’s mission.
Requirements:
Willing to Relocate to East Texas.
Personal Relationship with the Lord that is demonstrated through actions and behavior.
Experience with Horses: Previous experience in horse care, riding, and training is required.
High School Diploma (or equivalent).
Teachable and Relational: Ability to work well with a team.
Dependable: Must be reliable and able to manage tasks independently.

Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with Monday nights for Q&A sessions.

Salary : $30,000 - $36,000
