Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Estimator. We are seeking an estimator we can train to work into the role of a Chief Estimator. The ideal candidate will have expertise in commercial and residential estimating, project management, and cost control to support our construction projects.
Qualifications
- Analyze project plans and specifications to prepare accurate and timely cost estimates
- Evaluate changes and review designs with a critical eye to maintain budget adherence
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for bids
- Utilize software tools such as Construct Connect, Procore, etc.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
- Oversee and streamline pre-construction tasks like design reviews and scheduling
- Develop detailed proposals, including labor, material, and equipment costs
- Review contract documents to understand scope of work and contractual obligations
- Relationship building throughout the construction community
- Develop and continue good working relationships with owners and architects to encourage repeat business
- Reviewing and further develop estimating metrics and procedures
- Maintain historic pricing information for accurate budgeting
- Great working knowledge of contracts, insurance, and bonding
- Ensure a successful transition from preconstruction to operations
Requirements:
- Strong leader with verbal and written communication skill and high software capability
- Ability to read and interpret technical and legal documents
- Be a team player, go above and beyond the industry norm
- Experience in Microsoft software applications including Excel, Work, Outlook, Etc.
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and subcontractors
- Bachelor's degree is preferred
- Creative and results oriented, with a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to network within the construction industry
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
