Overview
We are seeking an experienced dedicated and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments for patients, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of health information management systems, particularly Cerner, and the ability to work effectively within both inpatient and outpatient settings. The MDS Coordinator will collaborate with various departments to uphold the highest standards of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients using the MDS framework to ensure accurate documentation of health status.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams to gather necessary patient information for MDS completion.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards related to MDS assessments.
- Utilize Cerner and other health information management systems to maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide training and support to staff regarding MDS processes and documentation requirements.
- Monitor quality indicators related to MDS submissions and implement improvement strategies as needed.
- Participate in care planning meetings, contributing insights from MDS data to enhance patient outcomes.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations affecting MDS processes and communicate these changes effectively to the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in critical care or pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) settings is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of hospital operations, outpatient services, and health information management systems.
- Proficiency in using Cerner or similar electronic health record systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards governing MDS assessments.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high-quality standards in patient care documentation.

Pay: $29.51 - $31.03 per hour
