Summary

Perform quality control functions, operate selected pieces of manufacturing equipment such as ovens and Vulcanizer; operate and maintain the wire winder. Cut material for special projects, perform stamping and silk screening and assembly of wire harnesses.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Production Support

  • Train assemblers in all processes related to the Blanket department.
  • Cut material for special projects.
  • Participate in quality control activities, including support and training for assemblers to ensure product quality.

Leadership

  • Assign work through evaluation and assessment of the technical ability and development of each assembler.
  • Assist with technical and product assembly questions from the Blanket department.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of materials.
  • Support research and development projects by implementing designs through manufacture and providing product improvement advice.
  • Work collaboratively with Production Scheduler to establish process flow and supply Blanket Lead with information regarding work and process flow.
  • Maintain expected productivity and quality standards that make financial returns possible for the Company to continue to provide excellent service to our customers and job opportunities and career growth for our staff.
  • Documentation

  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation including work orders and time clock punches.
  • Document and account for all materials used and time expended.
  • Correct bills of materials to reflect actual parts used or configuration changes.
  • Create documentation and reports regarding wire winders.
  • Other Duties

  • Provide input to Production Manager or Blanket Lead regarding suggestions for product improvement, construction methods, and materials used.
  • Perform facilities maintenance, upgrades, and new installations, as directed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
  • Participate in work area clean-up activity at end of day and end of week.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and / or Experience

    Three years of related experience and / or training. Must have a working knowledge of shop practices and electricity, soldering techniques, machine operations and production techniques, and quality control functions, and ability to read a ruler and read and interpret schematics.

    Computer Skills

    Some familiarity with computers preferred.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and write short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small groups to other employees and managers.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to apply concepts of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry to calculate measurements for cutting material, thermal uniformity mapping, and design prototyping.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Apply innovative thinking.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and have excellent hand-to-eye coordination. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to use fingers, hands, and arms to manipulate and shuffle documents, use writing instruments, and type on a keyboard. The employee is regularly required to walk, stand, balance, sit for prolonged periods, speak clearly, and hear. The employee is regularly required to reach, bend, and stretch across a table. Employee must have physical and cognitive ability to operate machinery including a ShopBot and table saw to and load and unload equipment from manufacturing ovens. The employee must lift, move, and regularly turn and twist while holding 25 pounds.

    Safety Rules

    Employees are required to know and abide by all safety rules and programs. Employees must observe and practice safe working conditions and report any condition that does not meet safety standards. Under state law, employees have a duty to immediately report all accidents to their employer. Work areas should be kept clean and well-organized.

    Work Environment

    Drug-free working environment. Combination of usual office conditions and production area. Some elements in the production area may be present which make conditions less desirable than usually found in an office setting. Employee may occasionally experience exposure to elements such as odor, dust, heat, cold, or chemicals. The production area is a chemical working area; food is not allowed.
