Job Summary: 


The Safety Director is responsible for promoting and maintaining a culture of safety across multiple construction job sites. This role ensures the implementation of best practices and compliance with safety regulations, particularly OSHA standards, to create a safe working environment for all employees.

Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance safety and health standards at job sites to accomplish corporate safety goals and standards. 
  • Oversee safety management across various construction sites, ensuring adherence to OSHA compliance and safety regulations. 
  • Conduct thorough inspections of work areas to identify potential hazards, including equipment and working conditions. 
  • Facilitate employee safety meetings and training sessions, covering emergency procedures, proper equipment and PPE usage. 
  • Report and investigate all safety-related incidents, near misses, and accidents, ensuring accurate documentation and recommending corrective actions. 
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints related to workplace hazards. 
  • Complete accident reports and maintain comprehensive records of investigations and safety audits. 
  • Perform safety audits, inspections, and evaluations to identify hazards and implement corrective measures in line with regulatory requirements.  
  • Ensure strict compliance with construction safety laws, regulations, and industry best practices. 
  • Conduct safety orientations for new hires to instill a strong safety culture from the outset. 
  • Stay informed about current safety regulations and industry trends. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 

 

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • In-depth knowledge of safety management principles, tools, and technologies relevant to the construction industry. 
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT. 
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations. 
  • Ability to operate in fast paced environments. 
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and make informed, sound decisions. 
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local safety regulations. 
  • Leadership, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel). 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. 

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.  
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or a related field; master's degree preferred. 
  • 2 years of progressive experience in construction safety management roles. 
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Occupational Safety and Health certification (required). 
  • OSHA 500 - Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry (preferred). 
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Must successfully complete a drug test and fit-for-duty exam. Background check is required. 

 

Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods of standing.  
  • Exposure to site-specific conditions, including climbing stairs or ladders, and navigating indoor and outdoor terrains in various weather conditions. 
  • Local travel is required. 
  • Occasional lifting and moving of objects up to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule:


  • Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM. 
  • Occasional weekend availability may be required.

License/Certification:

 

  • OSHA 30 (Required). 
  • OSHA 500 (Preferred). 
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) (Preferred).
