Essential Job Functions
Support the mission to nurture, teach and grow children to reach their highest potential. Provide children with a nurturing environment and learning experiences that are appropriate to their age and stage of development; enhance parents' role as the principal influence in their child's life; work as a team player in the best interest of the children, families and center. Uphold the policies and procedures of Heavenly Kids Center for Learning to build a positive reputation. Understand that flexibility is a key component to this position; and participate in at least 15 hours of professional development per year to sharpen skills and maintain compliance with Step up to Quality.
Daily Responsibilities
- Greet children, parents, staff and visitors whenever contact is made
- Communicate effectively with infants, parents, and other staff by engaging in conversation
- Take daily attendance as children arrive and depart, always know your count
- Ensure all developmental domains of children are met daily
- Ensure daily activity schedule is implemented
- Maintain food log, teach proper etiquette and provide open dialogue during meal times
- Clean toys/classroom equipment daily as needed
- Maintain organized classroom; ensure that all areas of the room is clean
- Ensure classroom rules are reviewed daily and followed for consistency
- Complete (and distribute upon request) daily reports to parents
- Ensure classroom is in compliance at all times (with ODJFS, SUTQ, CACFP and HKCL)
- Complete CACFP time log, meal count and other required docs
- Work collaboratively with other classroom teachers by maintaining open respectful communication/feedback
- Ensure that all pertinent information concerning children is brought to the office and explained to management
Weekly Responsibilities
- Ensure blankets, bibs, smocks and other washables are laundered on assigned day
- Sanitize toys, classroom items
- Develop weekly lesson plan; revise as needed during the week
- Maintain children’s portfolio
- Conduct observations and anecdotal notes
- All other items needed for smooth and efficient flow of classroom
Monthly Responsibilities
- Participate in staff meetings/professional development as scheduled
- Conduct and document developmental screenings and assessment of children (as needed).
- Participate in field trips and special events
- Complete curriculum assessment tool (quarterly)
Minimum Qualifications
- AA/CDA in Early Childhood Development or a closely related field.
- A minimum of three years experience teaching toddlers
- Six months experience with SUTQ and NAEYC standards and assessment tools for toddlers desired
- Completion of basic in-service training hours for first aid, CPR, child abuse, and communicable disease
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
