We are currently seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer for various Heavy Civil Utility Infrastructure Projects around El Paso, Texas.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for overall management of the safety and occupational health program on assigned projects. The Site Safety & Health Officer shall have the authority to act in all safety matters for assigned projects at all times, to perform safety training and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement. Perform all work in a safe and professional manner. Establishing and nurturing our Safety Culture of sustained safe work practices among all personnel with Zero Tolerance and Zero Injury. We want to become the local industry standard for construction site safety. We Dig Safety First!
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Prepare the Project Safety Plan & Activity Hazard Analysis
- Review & Ensure All Trench Safety Plans & Measures are followed
- Inspect Trench Safety Boxes, Devices, Pins, Latches, Ladders & Similar
- Ensure compliance with project Accident Prevention Plan
- Ensure Personal PPE meets applicable OSHA requirements
- Train employees on proper use of all personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Conduct daily walk throughs of the project sites ensuring safety
- Construction Hazard Recognition & Immediate Corrective Action
- Safety training of all personnel assigned to projects and project site visitors
- Conducts daily project safety inspections with follow-up inspections
- Review Subcontractor qualification and safety while on-site
- Regulatory compliance with OSHA and All Other Safety Standards
- Accident and Incident investigations, with appropriate reporting
- Development and Implementation of Corrective Action Plans
- Works with project supervision to create safety solutions to safety problems
- Fosters and maintains a positive safety culture for the project personnel
- Maintains all safety certifications as required per project specifications
- Attends and participates in all project pre-activity safety meetings
- Produce a Daily Safety Report of activities performed (mandatory)
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere while implementing safety standards
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related discipline, an Associate's Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5-Years Safety Experience on Construction Projects
- Previous Experience working in a health and safety role
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
- Completion of OSHA 30-hour training certificate or training card
- Resume demonstrating 5-Years of continuous safety experience
- Minimum 3-Years supervising or managing industry safety programs
- Experience conducting hazard analyses and developing controls
- Experience in writing Activity Hazards Analysis (AHA)
- Training Certificate of completion of 385-1-1 Safety Manual
- Strong oral and written communication skills required
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand Spanish
- Requirements may vary depending on individual project needs
