Description
CT Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a per-diem Admissions Coordinator (to cover occasional mornings and time off time of permanent employees). The schedule will be determined upon hire.
The Admissions Coordinator will be responsible for the admission of patients to the Behavioral Health Unit by reviewing medical records and obtains insurance information and prior authorizations. Communicates with Behavioral Unit staff to assist in arranging admission for all appropriate referrals.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
· Reviews medical records to determine patients that are appropriate for placement within the organization.
· Cultivates and builds relationships with external referrals, which ultimately produces revenue to the organization.
· Maintains a positive, growing, proactive relationship with external referral sources.
· Follows through on all professional contacts and tasks. Educates referral sources, families, patients, co-workers re: services.
· Understands reimbursement parameters for all services.
· Displays a comprehensive understanding of Medicare Criteria/Private Insurance Criteria for admissions.
· Utilizes effective time management skills.
Admissions Coordinator Skills and Qualifications:
· Previous hospital experience preferred.
· Experience in educating patients, families and staff.
· Experience in customer relations, sales or marketing.
· Excellent organization, communication, and analysis skills.
· Knowledge of computer programs for data collection, tracking and reporting.
· Knowledge of electronic medical record systems.

Qualifications
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Well-lighted, well ventilated work area
- Prolong periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- May work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and holidays
- Subject to frequent interruptions
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required
- Two years experience of hospital office experience preferred
- Basic computer skills needed
- Ability to read, writes, and interprets verbal and written communications using the English language.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Knowledge of ICD codes preferred
