POSITION TITLE: BSA / Deposit Compliance Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Compliance Department
ACCOUNTABILITY: Vice President, BSA Compliance Manager
Scope of Responsibility: This is a dual-role position; approximately two-thirds in BSA and one-third in Deposit Compliance. The primary responsibility of the BSA and Deposit Compliance Specialist is to provide support in ensuring the ongoing compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti Money Laundering (AML) program, and assist in implementing, communicating and maintaining the bank’s Deposit Compliance program.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintains a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to bank compliance including Bank Secrecy and Anti Money Laundering laws, to include participating in required compliance training and ensuring compliance with regulations in the scope of the position.
- Maintains comprehensive knowledge of bank policies, procedures, including BSA and Deposit Compliance, to ensure the bank operates in compliance at all times;
- Provides support in the day-to-day aspects of the bank’s ongoing BSA/AML/OFAC operations including meeting deadlines for reviews, investigations, and BSA related filings;
- Monitors transaction reports and data provided daily using the Yellow Hammer BSA software, recognize when created tasks need investigations research; escalating to the BSA Manager as appropriate;
- Monitors Currency Transactions Reports and submits the CTR filings in a timely manner; performs additional BSA requirements relating to CTR filings;
- Assists with Currency Transaction Exemption monitoring and processes;
- Review new and revised signature cards verifying CIP requirements are met; assisting with new and revised CIF records and account maintenance;
- Regulation CC availability, documentation, and retention;
- Annual abandoned (escheat) property reporting;
- Assist with monthly and periodic reports in collecting BSA and CIP data and statistics;
- Completing all other duties as assigned.
Contacts: The individual in this position will work in conjunction with the BSA Officer, BSA Compliance Manager, Deposit Compliance Manager, compliance area staff members, and other bank personnel to ensure that the bank is in compliance with federal & state regulations and guidelines as well as bank policies and procedures. In addition to those individuals just noted, this individual will work closely as appropriate with branch personnel to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of banking regulations pertaining to Enhanced Due Diligence, Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and OFAC compliance and industry best practices
- Knowledge of banking policies and procedures, to include regulatory Deposit Compliance
- Strong communication (verbal & written) & interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Working knowledge of Microsoft WORD and EXCEL
- Good analytical, logical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Accepts responsibility eagerly
