What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Floor Supervisor position at Heidelberg Distributing Company?
JOB SUMMARY
- This position will work collaboratively with the Warehouse Shift Managers and lead the Warehouse Floor Coordinators and Dock Coordinators to ensure order fulfillment, picking accuracy, order checking and truck loading metrics are met by the order processing staff.
- Help Develop a plan to ensure key metrics are met by the team up to and including cases picked per hour, limiting picking errors, and reducing warehouse breakage.
- Must embrace a culture of continuous improvement and effectively influence the attitudes and behavior of the team to work towards consistent excellence.
- Must have a strong knowledge of the warehouse and the ability to successfully work in collaboration with numerous Operations associates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Motivate and develop the Warehouse Floor Coordinators and order processing team – including performance and employee relations
- Assist Warehouse Shift Managers with running and analyzing efficiency, breakage, overtime hour and additional reports
- Conduct pre-shift meetings with associates to discuss safety, important company announcements, and key initiatives
- Initiate, document and oversee disciplinary action over all warehouse associates as needed
- Respond, investigate and resolve safety questions and concerns
- Maintain inventory levels to limit red checks and out of stocks
- Oversee and ensure training of Order Processors is completed accurately and consistently, including safety and proper use of equipment
- Ensure orders are checked & loaded onto the correct truck
- Understand the union contract
- Review and confirm warehouse associate work hours during assigned shift
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Proficient in Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Highly organized with ability to manage priorities and coordinate multiple projects
- Ability to successfully convey important information during pre-shift meetings
- Two-plus years of warehouse experience preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and wide temperature variations.
- Must be to work flexible hours through the week and, sometimes weekends.
- Week before and, during National Holidays are a must to work.
- Dress code is business casual; closed-toe shoes are suggested. Other restrictions may apply.
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs. minimum, climb ladders while working safely.
- While performing the duties of this job, employee is required to stand; balance; walk; climb stairs, sit; use hands to feel and handle objects, tools, or controls, including standard office equipment such as computers and phones; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear; and have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
