Kitchen Assistant
Heidi’s is in search of a kitchen assistant who can work with our head ice cream and jam makers on multiple components of food production and manufacturing.
Day-to-day work will center around maintaining our ice cream inventory, assisting our jam makers on a weekly basis, and fulfilling packaging and manufacturing roles for our candy production as needed.
Heidi’s products feature in our local ice cream shop as well as in retail and dining locations around New Mexico.
We are in search of workers with kitchen experience and a passion for good food and quality ingredients to join our small team, working full-time 40 hours a week at $18/hour.
Responsibilities:
Ice cream production
- Measure and handle ingredients according to recipe specifications
- Operate and maintain machinery such as kitchen scales, gas ovens, ice cream makers, and industrial immersion blenders
- Label and package bulk and wholesale ice cream in a timely manner
Jam Production
- Assist our jam makers during weekly cooks
- Measure ingredients
- Monitor kettles for temperature, adding and mixing ingredients as needed
- Operate filler to fill up to 3,000 jars a day
- Lid, label, package, and palletize jars of jam
- Maintain a sanitary work environment
Candy Production
- Assist candy makers during cooking process when needed
- Scrape candy into molds during time sensitive pours
- Prepare de-molded and sugared candies on trays for curing
- Label and package candies
Requirements:
- Kitchen/Manufacturing experience preferred
- Lift 50 lbs or more on a regular basis
- Stand on your feet for extended periods of time
- Must be comfortable utilizing heavy machinery
- Must be able to follow written directions and recipes
- Organizational skills in a small team environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
