Work Location: Marlborough, MA, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)
Hybrid Schedule: At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. What you will be doing:
The Director of Market Strategy and Planning will partner with both Sales (Regional Market Organization, or RMO) and Marketing (business Unit, BU) to develop best-in-class strategies and trade solutions that drive growth for our brands and our customers. This role will be responsible for bringing consumer and innovation insights to the sales function (RMO), and for bringing customer/retailer insights back to the brand leads (BU), to inform robust business plans and growth strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a depth of knowledge in sales and marketing and will need to bring strategic agility – unlocking the power of data and insights to drive business planning, with strong influencing, communication, and interpersonal skills. This role will report to the VP of Commercial Excellence or Senior Director of MS&P depending on the Business Unit.
- Business Planning: Translate brand and business unit strategies into action plans and priorities for the US Regional Market Organization (RMO). Serve as a bridge between Marketing (BU) and Sales (RMO) to ensure brand & channel strategies cohesively ladder up to deliver against financial and growth targets for the business. Establish retailer performance standards for our brands (distribution, pricing, assortment, and merchandising strategies) and proactively develop plans with the RMO to close gaps.
- Go-to-Market Planning and Commercial Strategy: Director will partner with BU and RMO teams to develop commercial and merchandizing plans that enable our brands to win in key channels and retail environments. Ensures new product launches and brand programs are communicated and implemented in-store and online. Ensures BUs consider and pursue scale opportunities across channels and brands, where appropriate.
- Sales Strategy: The Director will work closely with RMO to drive best-inclass customer support and account planning, facilitating the selling process, including oversight of key PowerPoint presentations such as Joint Business Plans and core selling materials. Oversees and actively participates in sales meeting content development, preparation & presentation. Oversees channel management and pricing strategy.
- Product Innovation: Work closely with BU leads to inform new product development. Coordinate with RMO and BU on retail customer and shopper insights to drive innovation priorities and product development roadmap, providing critical feedback in areas such as features, pricing, packaging, promotions, forecasts, etc. Develop channel strategies to support new launches, activating those strategies with the RMO.
- Market Analysis: Must have a solid understanding of the current retail environment, a customer service mindset, and a strong understanding of shopper behaviors and merchandising trends. Using POS and syndicated data sources, the Director will monitor movement, market share, and promotional ROI, and make strategic/tactical recommendations to management on an ongoing basis. They will also routinely conduct store checks and evaluate competitive product offerings to gain/maintain a knowledge of marketplace activities. It is also important that they regularly communicate their findings and insights to the RMO and BU teams.

- Strong general management experience balanced by understanding of Brand Management/Marketing and Sales
- Able to manage cross-functionally and across an organization
- Extensive Business and Financial Acumen and Understanding
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects at one time
- General computer skills, must have solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 8 years in sales, trade marketing, brand management, and/or category management experience within a durable consumer goods company.
- Experience of leading joint business plans with large national retailer(s)
- Experience of working across multiple trade channels with a good understanding of Key Business Drivers of all channels
- Strong understanding of brand management and marketing in mass, specialty, and e-commerce channels.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

- MBA in marketing and/or management
