Working at the Helena Housing Authority (HHA) offers the opportunity to positively impact the lives of residents and to serve the Helena Community. HHA seeks a Custodian/Groundskeeper responsible for performing a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks in maintaining facilities, grounds, and landscaping. The position will perform a variety of manual and semiskilled tasks in maintaining facilities, grounds and landscaped features to ensure orderly, functional, safe and aesthetically pleasing appearances of assigned areas. It is also responsible for providing a variety of cleaning, custodial and maintenance services to ensure buildings, facilities and property are clean, orderly and safe. This position reports to the Facilities Manager.
Duties Include:
- Gathering and removal of debris and depositing it in garbage stations.
- Conduct inspections for various purposes.
- Operate vehicles powered equipment, hand tools.
- Maintain and/or repair tools, equipment, or structures.
- Upkeep of grounds e.g., lawns, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, etc.
- Identify and report building maintenance needs.
Qualifications to join our Team:
- High school diploma or GED and two years related janitorial and groundskeeping experience.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Montana Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to insurance carriers.
- Ability to work overtime, or after-hours work, if needed.

Anticipated New Hire Compensation:
$17.09 - $20.36 per hour depending on qualifications.
On top of the hourly wage and up to 37 paid days off per year (holiday, sick, vacation), additional benefits for full time positions include HHA coverage of ~$13,000 or more per year toward health coverage, retirement contributions and additional insurance for full time positions.
