Helicon Chemical Company – a small business and leader in the development and production of next-generation composite materials for a variety of applications, including solid fuel and electrical storage applications – is seeking a chemist to support and conduct interdisciplinary research in the fields of polymer and materials chemistry and nanoscience.
Position Overview :
The Senior Research & Development Manager will play a key leadership role in overseeing a team of highly skilled PhD researchers and technicians within a fast-paced industrial environment. This position requires a deep understanding of experimental design and technical problem-solving, as well as a strong commitment to safety and productivity. You will be responsible for solving complex technical challenges, ensuring the efficient operation of the team, and leading projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage a diverse team of PhD-level researchers and technicians, ensuring high productivity, quality, and safety.
- Solve complex technical problems related to advanced experimental setups and novel processes in a fast-paced environment.
- Oversee experimental design, execution, and analysis, ensuring robust data collection and successful project outcomes.
- Ensure safe laboratory operations, with a focus on maintaining a strong safety mindset across the team.
- Develop and manage air-free chemistry processes, including the design and operation of gloveboxes, air-free reactors, Swagelok fittings, and specialized air-free glassware setups.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project milestones and deadlines while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
- Mentor and guide junior researchers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, industry regulations, and best practices in laboratory operations.
