Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the financial reporting, general ledger reconciliation, and compliance activities of the company. This role ensures accurate and timely financial records in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate accounting, a strong understanding of financial controls, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, publicly traded environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance

Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

Support the preparation of 10-Q and 10-K filings, including footnotes and disclosures.

Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls and participate in internal/external audits.

Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the SEC and other regulatory bodies.
General Accounting & Reconciliations

Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and fixed asset transactions.

Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and intercompany transactions.

Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.

Maintain supporting documentation for all financial transactions.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Support

Assist with vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and invoice processing.

Ensure accurate customer billing and collections processing.

Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance

Assist with sales tax, property tax, and other compliance filings.

Support corporate tax reporting and preparation in coordination with tax advisors.
Process Improvement & Special Projects

Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve internal controls.

Support ERP system enhancements and accounting software implementations.

Participate in special projects, mergers & acquisitions (M&A) activities, and financial analysis as needed.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a publicly traded company or audit firm.

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.

Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite preferred).

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
