NEW HARM REDUCTION PROGRAM:

Our abstinence-based outpatient SUD treatment program is introducing a new harm reduction component to our model. This innovative expansion recognizes that recovery is unique. The new component caters to individuals seeking sobriety but may not yet be fully abstinent. It prioritizes safety, well-being, and incremental progress, rather than demanding immediate abstinence. Instead, it focuses on reducing risks, strengthening motivation, and addressing mental health needs. The integrated model combines evidence-based harm reduction interventions with compassionate clinical support, empowering clients to define their recovery goals and enhance overall stability and quality of life.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Ideal candidates will have a passion for working with populations that are justice- involved, are or previously have experienced homelessness, have co-occurring disorders, and/or have a serious and persistent mental illness diagnosis and strive to close the gaps in mental health services for these populations.
  • Facilitate and/or Co- facilitate up to 4 Groups a day.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to ensure member completion of program and achievement of individual goals.
  • Build strong therapeutic relationships with group members to ensure wellness and attainment of individual goals.
  • Provide 1:1 counseling and therapy to individuals who are enrolled in the program. This will be provided based on capacity and need.
  • Help develop and implement mental health group curriculum.
  • Engage with clients from a strength-based perspective that promotes client self-determination and empowerment, develop trusting and therapeutic relationships for continuing engagement.
  • Work under the direction of a designated clinical supervisor, if not currently independently licensed.
  • Utilize best practices such as strengths based, person centered, trauma informed approaches while also providing culturally responsive services.
  • Conduct Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for new and existing participants.
  • Maintain organized clinical documentation including diagnostic assessments, case notes, treatment plans, and other documentation in accordance with Minnesota Statute, while ensuring to meet deadlines.
  • Oversee coordination of care for participants through collaboration and referral to internal Helix services and external service providers.
  • Consistently attend all agency, program, and collaborative meetings in a timely manner and actively contribute to discussions and initiatives.
  • Actively assist in creating and maintaining an employee-centered culture.
  • Uphold a high standard of professionalism, in accordance with Helix policies and standards, when engaging with the community and collaborating with Helix partners.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a strong willingness to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE:

Understanding of substance use disorders (SUDs), co-occurring mental health conditions, and integrated treatment approaches.
Proficiency in evidence-based therapies for SUD treatment, such as:

  • Harm Reduction
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Trauma-Informed Care (TIC)
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Also:

  • Familiarity with relapse prevention strategies, harm reduction interventions, and recovery-oriented care.
  • Strong knowledge of legal, ethical, and regulatory standards, including:
  • HIPAA and confidentiality regulations
  • State and federal guidelines for substance use treatment
  • Mandatory reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of overdose prevention and response, including Naloxone (Narcan) administration.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work is required
  • Dual licensure as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) is preferred.
  • Must be licensed as a Mental Health Professional in the state of Minnesota under Rule 29 regulations, holding one of the following credentials:
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
  • Licensed Psychologist (LP)

Candidates who are not yet licensed must have:

  • Successfully completed a master’s or doctorate program in a behavioral health field, and
  • A minimum of 10 months of supervised clinical experience, and
  • Be actively pursuing licensure as an LPCC, LMFT, LICSW, or LP in Minnesota.
  • 1-3 years experience in Behavioral health, mental health, or substance use disorder (SUD) treatment; and
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy in a clinical or community-based setting; and
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices for SUD and co-occurring mental health disorders; and
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans; and
  • Previous experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and relapse prevention strategies is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance for travel between sites and other business-related destinations.
  • Must be able to pass a Net2Study criminal background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to perform various physical tasks essential to job duties. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Lifting: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25-50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Bending & Stooping: Frequent bending, kneeling, and stooping may be required to access materials, equipment, or perform job-related tasks.
  • Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting may be necessary, depending on the nature of work.
  • Walking & Standing: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including navigating various work environments.
  • Reaching & Stretching: Occasional reaching overhead or in awkward positions to retrieve or handle materials.
  • General Mobility: Adequate physical ability to move freely within the workspace and perform assigned duties safely and efficiently.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $73,000.00 - $95,000.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
