Description:
Target Marketing Group, a Helm company, is looking for a Staff Accountant. We are looking for candidates that are currently in an entry level role and are looking for their next career opportunity with an increased level of responsibility. Duties:
- Prepares standard monthly journal entry work papers and records entries in general ledger.
- Completes monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts including; prepaid expenses, inventory, fixed assets, intercompany accounts and accrued taxes.
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliations of all cash accounts.
- Maintains fixed asset sub-ledger and completes monthly depreciation/amortization schedules and journal entries.
- Assists with financial analysis prior to executive management review of financial statements for each month end close.
- Leads research and analysis of accounting related issues and projects.
- Reports and initiates payment of monthly sales and use tax to appropriate authorities.
- Continuously evaluates potential areas for improvement in reconciliation and reporting tools and practices.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance required.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience required.
- Demonstrable understanding of accounting principles required.
- Experience with Microsoft based accounting systems preferred (e.g. Great Plains, MS NAV, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required with at least an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Good communication skills required.
- Must be detail oriented with the ability to work in a team atmosphere.
- Experience in working within month end close time constraints a plus.
