Sales Area:
Western Michigan / Grand Rapids, MI & Northern Indiana
Job Purpose:
Manufacturer’s representative company is seeking an experienced electrical sales professional to expand sales in an established territory. Responsibilities are calling on electrical distributors, engineers, and contractors in the commercial and industrial market. This will be a home-office based position.
Duties:
- Supporting sales growth through the prompt evaluation of quotation opportunities and determining solutions that resolve specific customer problems using technical skills and electrical knowledge.
- Maintain quality rapport with current customers, identifying their needs, and growing sales.
- Coordinate joint marketing, sales, and technical support with distributors.
- Maintains Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system by entering daily calls and activities.
- Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
- Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
- Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Project a positive image to the customers we serve, to peers and subordinates, to the industry in which we participate, and to the community in which we live by exhibiting professional and ethical sales practices.
Skills/Qualifications:
- BA or BS with 3 years related experience OR
- Associate degree with 5 years of related experience OR
- High School diploma or equivalent with 10 years of related experience.
- Direct experience in the electrical power industry is required.
- Basic knowledge of Electrical/Mechanical principles important.
- Have strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Proficient with standard MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel), including smartphone applications (Outlook, Text, Voice).
- Demonstrated history of using good proposal process methods. While the job is technical in nature, the candidate needs to have a “get job done” attitude to work around imperfect situations/tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage time to accomplish sometimes conflicting goals.
- Results driven, not task driven, with an eager sense to meet customers’ deadlines.
- Good driving record.
- Free to travel overnight 1 to 2 times a month.
Remuneration:
- A starting salary will be negotiated based on qualifications, experience, and success.
- At the end of a 12-month training period, the position will be paid only on commissions of sales in the territory.
