This job consists of working in a Domestic Violence Shelter with current fleeing victims and their children with very serious physical and/or emotional trauma.
This position is 20-30 hours a week with needed flexibility to work evening/overnight shifts. This is a floating position.
Responsibilities and Duties
Duties:
May include but not limited to:
- Familiar with all HIC policies and procedures related to shelter operations. And the ability to carry out any necessary actions therein.
- Being familiar with the Attorney General Provisions related to shelter operations and maintaining AG compliance at all times. And the ability to carry out any necessary actions therein.
- Assisting other shelter staff with daily operations.
- Maintain and update records on participants, i.e., intakes, daily charting in files, etc
- At times, packing and moving clients' belongings, and cleaning rooms. Prepping new rooms for new clients.
- Familiar with emergency procedures such as fire, tornado, and intruder alarms, drills and procedures.
- Advocate with the residents and provide direct services on an as needed basis.
- Acquire a minimum of 16 hours of training every year, and provide training certification to place in personnel file at main office.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Perform other responsibilities as requested by Shelter Director.
- Complete 30 hours of HIC Advocate training.
- Complete 3 separate days of job shadowing prior to first shift.
- Having a background check before hiring.
- Having OSBI fingerprints obtained after hire date, but before start date
Qualifications and Skills
- Must maintain a nonjudgmental attitude toward participants, and a positive commitment to work with victims/survivors of family violence and sexual assault.
- Must be willing to work within the guidelines, recommendations and philosophies of the agency.
- Must have a general knowledge of community resources.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay: $15.00 per hour

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
