Domestic Violence Shelter Advocate (PT)

We are seeking 2 compassionate and dedicated Shelter Advocates to assist clients in our emergency shelter. Responsibilities include conducting client intakes, responding to individual needs, providing encouragement, connecting clients with essential resources, handling donations, assisting with shelter maintenance, and occasionally transporting clients. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with a deep commitment to supporting individuals impacted by domestic violence. This role requires the ability to manage physical tasks, such as lifting and organizing donations, as well as emotional resilience to support individuals in crisis who may be experiencing trauma, fear, or distress. Candidates must be aware of the risks associated with providing services to victims of violence and have the ability to handle these challenges with empathy and professionalism. This part-time position offers a highly flexible schedule, including weekend and holiday hours as needed. Weekly hours may vary between 12 to 24, depending on agency needs and scheduling arrangements with other part-time staff. Flexibility and availability to adjust hours based on coverage requirements are essential.

The training for this position will be Monday through Friday 8 am until 5 pm for approximately one week. Afterwards, schedule will be determined by shelter manager.
