Job Summary:
The Team Lead - Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a key leadership role within our organization, responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of a team of Direct Support Professionals. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that clients with disabilities receive quality care and support in accordance with their individualized plans. The Team Lead will also be responsible for training, mentoring, and supporting staff while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Team Support:
- Lead and mentor a team of Direct Support Professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
- Schedule and assign tasks to staff, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with service delivery standards.
- Client Care:
- Coordinate and implement individualized service plans for clients, ensuring that their needs and goals are met.
- Advocate for clients and effectively communicate their preferences and concerns to other team members and stakeholders.
- Training and Development:
- Provide ongoing training and support to ensure all staff members meet professional development goals.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of services provided, incidents, and client progress, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation as required by state and federal agencies.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with family members, healthcare providers, and community organizations to enhance care and support for clients.
- Facilitate communication within the team to ensure consistency and continuity of care.
- Crisis Management:
- Address and manage conflicts or crises among clients or staff members using effective problem-solving and de-escalation techniques.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all clients and staff in accordance with safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in human services, social work, or related field preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of person-centered planning and support practices.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with empathy and patience.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred, or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
