Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:  The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing volunteer activities within Helping Hand while promoting our mission in the community.  The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the full-cycle recruitment process of volunteers including interviewing, onboarding, and volunteer placement.  The Volunteer Coordinator also engages with the community to recruit new volunteers and seek out creative volunteer opportunities.

 

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

  • On-site position, part-time, averaging 25 hours per week with some flexibility to work some evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the department as well as to attend scheduled agency and community events.  
  • Flexibility for evenings and weekends averages 1 evening per week and one weekend day per month.   
  • Salary range $20.67-$22.11 per hour (Non-Exempt/Hourly).  Salary based on skills and experience.
  • Up to 6% annual bonus potential.
  • 403b retirement plan with up to a 4% company match.

A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU AT HH:

  • Interview and onboard volunteers for the Volunteer Program.
  • Select appropriate placement of volunteers into the program based on their qualifications.
  • Schedule and train volunteers for ongoing tasks as well as for events and/or activities.
  • Host volunteer events and experiences by engaging with volunteers, team members, and HH clients.
  • Manage volunteer job descriptions.
  • Track volunteer hours.
  • Responsible for periodic review and evaluation of volunteers.
  • Participate in community outreach activities (some evenings and weekends).
  • Manage the volunteer database and create dashboards for appropriate reporting and metrics.
  • Various administrative and management of program duties as assigned to support the department.
  • Must attend all team and agency meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


LAND THIS OPPORTUNITY BY HAVING:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.  
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience: 

  • 1 year of experience wokring with volunteers.

Skill Sets:

  • Proficient and comfortable with technology such as Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, etc.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize multiple urgencies as required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, including networking and presentation skills.
  • Must have valid drivers license, acceptable driving record, and proof of ongoing personal motor vehicle insurance.
  • Must have the flexibility to be available some nights and weekends, with an average of one evening per week and one weekend day per month to meet the needs of the department as well as to attend scheduled agency and community events. Subject to change based on the needs of the department.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. 
  • The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer). 
  • Consistently position self to maintain files in cabinets or assist other members of the team. 
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in all situations and have the ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization.   
  • Ability to work indoors and/or outdoors. 
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs. 
  • Ability to transfer materials and or individuals. 
  • The person in this position may encounter clients exhibiting physical aggression; must be comfortable working in periods of crisis and feel comfortable de-escalating individually or as a team.
  • The person in this position must be able to work a part-time, in office position, for an average of 25 hours per week.
