What are the responsibilities and job description for the National Account Manager position at Helsinn Therapeutics?
Under the direction of the Director, Market Access, the NAM position is responsible for supporting the product sales for Akynzeo® franchise (oral and I.V.), Valchlor® and a potential new oncology therapeutic. This includes developing and implementing business plans, and pull through for strategic accounts, group purchasing organizations, oncology practices, IDNs, wholesalers and distributors in order to support the overall sales and marketing brand plans for Helsinn’s cancer supportive care and cancer therapeutic products in the United States. Responsibilities will also include contract implementation and management, reimbursement support, development, clinical selling, maintenance of strategic relationships with key decision makers, identification of emerging trends, and alternatives to the business model.
- Achieves or exceeds sales objectives with assigned accounts for Akynzeo® and Valchlor®, and the potential new Oncology therapeutic.
- Develop a strategic and tactical business plan that supports overall brand plans.
- Identify and develop strong relationships with key partners to create appropriate business opportunities.
- Organize and participate in meetings, exhibits and conventions to create sales/marketing opportunities and to establish sound relationships with our customer base.
- Analyze potential trends, changes to market conditions and areas of opportunity and incorporate into activities with accounts.
- Coordinate, implement and follow through on all account contracts and agreements.
- Deliver effective and compelling presentations that incorporate clinical and contractual message to key decision makers, anticipate and address potential objections.
- Work with sales and marketing teams to ensure that brand opportunities are clearly defined and communicated across the sales and marketing teams.
- Identify key national and regional influencers. Develop and maintain ongoing productive relationships.
- Research and document timely and competitive information for all competitive products.
- Seeks to understand national and local reimbursement policies.
- Work in conjunction with co-marketing partners to help internal partners understand the relationship, meet any need and promote the brand appropriately.
- Manages time, resources and workload in an effective manner.
- Communicate effectively with management, co-marketing partners, and sales management.
Work Experience Requirements:
- Experience in presenting and negotiating contracts with customers.
- Experience in negotiating contracts/agreements with wholesalers, national groups, and Oncology and institutional GPOs.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in oncology and institutional pharmaceutical account management.
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech/life sciences industry.
- Experience working in the buy and bill area of reimbursement.
- Experience with Oncology and Institutional Group Purchasing Organizations is required.
- Experience working with oncologic wholesalers and distributors is preferred..
- Experience working with separate class of trades contracts preferred.
- Must be able to travel extensively, approximately 75% of the time domestically, with occasional international travel.
- Must be able to show proof of valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of FDA and PhRMA guidelines.
- Position is to be field-based and located in the Eastern U.S.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific, pharmacy, marketing, business, or related field is required. Master’s degree or MBA is an additional attribute.
