Cytogenetic Lead

 

All Cytogenetic Lead responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·         Ensures all staff adheres to SOPs and escalates related matters to a Supervisor when needed

·         Actively and effectively monitors lab quality, brings any trends to the attention of a Supervisor, follows up on QIR resolution when applicable

·         Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and provide thoughtful solutions

·         Reviews and provides input to SOPs accurately and routinely

·         Assists with CAP preparations

·         Ensures optimal technical and operational coordination with Leads and Supervisors of the Cytogenetics department and leadership with other laboratory sections

·         Coordinates successfully with the other Cytogenetics Leads and Supervisors on projects

·         Clearly communicates daily work needs or schedule changes with team members

·         Directs employee personnel matters to the Supervisor when necessary.

·         Upholds standards for professionalism and respectful treatment of all Hematologics employees

·         Is a positive role model to all team members

All Cytogenetics Lead Qualifications - At least 5 years of relevant cytogenetic experience recommended (such as in Lab Aide, Technician and/or Technologist role) and:

·         Successful fulfillment of all Level II Cytogenetic Technologist qualifications required

·         Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail

·         Demonstrated awareness of using leadership skills to collaboratively build a positive, inclusive work environment, with sensitivity to a variety of needs and perspectives

·         Consistently strong communication skills utilized with all team members, including the section Director and other leadership. Strong communication skills are exemplified by demonstrating an open mind and respect in regard to other’s perspectives, and the ability to navigate conflict and decision-making processes with a positive, solutions-based and flexible approach.

·         Ability to thoughtfully escalate concerns and questions via appropriate channels to be addressed

·         Understands and projects a holistic perspective of Hematologics, promoting connection and unity between laboratory sections for optimal patient care

·         Takes initiative appropriately

·         Ability to commit to weekend & holiday rotation and routinely being onsite

QC Lead-Specific responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

·         Successfully organizes QI documentations and ensures appropriate follow-up processes

·         Contributes to appropriate proficiency testing preparation and documentation, monitors and evaluates equipment, systems and supplies to ensure operational efficiency, reliability of results and adequate inventory

·         Effectively oversees SharePoint documentation and renewals.

·         Consistently troubleshoots equipment and escalates to the Supervisor appropriately

·         Routinely manages inventory including new lot and shipment verification for various supplies and reagents

·         Reviews and facilitates appropriate QC processes, such as overseeing wet lab QC records, equipment QC, and maintenance including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual review

·         Acts as reliable and effective point person for CAP inspections, regulations, and criteria

·         Oversees the distribution, preparation, and technologist completion of CAP PT specimens and coordinates CAP results review with the section director

·         Prepares monthly statistics for both sections accurately and presents them at the team meetings

·         Oversee annual and semiannual TAT reports

·         Preparation of annual QC summary for director review

·         Effectively coordinates with the Safety Officer to ensure the proper disposal of waste

·         Coordinates and engages in QC projects across sections and departments with collaboration from the Quality Management and oversight from Supervisors.

QC Lead-Specific qualifications

·         Previous QC experience and experience with CAP preparation strongly recommended

Salary : $90,000 - $110,000
