The Community Relations Assistant is vital in promoting positive relationships, engagement, and effective communication between the Township and its residents, businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders. This position is responsible for developing and implementing community outreach programs, managing public relations initiatives, and facilitating meaningful dialogue to foster a strong sense of community and enhance the Township's image. The Community Relations Assistant will work closely with Township officials, departments, and the public to ensure transparency, address concerns, and promote collaboration for the betterment of the Township.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Community Relations Assistant position duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Community Outreach:
- Develop and execute comprehensive community outreach programs to engage residents, businesses, and community organizations.
- Organize and coordinate community events, workshops, town hall meetings, and other public forums to encourage participation and gather feedback.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local media outlets to promote Township initiatives and disseminate important information to the public.
- Collaborate with Township departments to identify community needs and develop targeted outreach strategies to address them.
- Public Relations:
- Develop and implement effective public relations strategies to enhance the Township's public image and reputation.
- Prepare and distribute press releases, newsletters, and other communications materials to provide accurate and timely information to the public.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate media interviews and press conferences as needed.
- Monitor and respond to public inquiries, comments, and concerns through various communication channels, including social media, email, and phone.
- Community Engagement:
- Foster positive relationships with residents, businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between the Township and the community, providing information, resolving issues, and addressing concerns.
- Facilitate community involvement in Township decision-making processes by coordinating advisory boards, citizen committees, and public input sessions.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase community engagement and participation in Township programs, initiatives, and events.
- Branding and Marketing:
- Assist in developing and implementing branding and marketing strategies to promote the Township's unique identity and strengths.
- Create and maintain consistent branding across various communication channels, including digital platforms, print materials, and signage.
- Collaborate with graphic designers, copywriters, and marketing professionals to develop visually appealing and compelling communication materials.
- Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and adjust strategies as needed.
