CMM Programmer/CALIBRATION TECHNICIAN
Job Description
The CMM Programmer is responsible for all aspects of the measurement system, including fixtures, CMM programming, probe selection, gage calibration, and data output.
This individual will apply knowledge of quality, programming, measurements techniques, and manufacturing to provide reliable inspection data. Data will be used as an input to many decision-making processes, accuracy and reputability are a must. The inspection data will be used to support current production. Statistical Process Control (SPC), PPAP requirements, and the continuous improvement cycle. Understanding of automotive PPAP's is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with Quality to provide data to support control plans and SPC
- Write CMM programs using Zeiss Calypso
- Perform MSA studies to validate that the fixtures and programs can perform to the required accuracy and repeatability
- Perform and maintain gage calibration for all measurement equipment
- Modify, tune, or re-write CMM programs obtained from other sources
- Ensure data is entered into SPC software and monitored
Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher in engineering or technical field of study
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
- 5-10 years of experience with metrology and using /programming CMM to conduct inspection measurements
- Understanding of Zeiss equipment and Calypso
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, with advanced skillset in Excel
- Reverse engineering a plus
Data Gathering and Analysis Skills
- Must be an expert in interpreting engineering drawings produced using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Data analysis using established statistical methods – Mini-Tab or other software considered a bonus
- Understanding of quality systems, such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949
- Good technical writing skills to convey measurement data
- Sampling plans and sample gathering techniques
- Gage calibration knowledge
