Job Title: Payroll & HR Specialist
Reports to: People Operations Directors
Department: Administration
Salary $65,000 - $75,000 / year
Description/Expectations:
Hendler Family Brewing Company is recruiting for a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll & HR Specialist to join our team. As the Payroll & HR Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our payroll process and benefits administration. You’ll be responsible for processing payroll with precision, managing employee benefits, and supporting various HR functions to create a seamless employee experience. Additionally, you’ll work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate payroll reporting, tax compliance, and financial reconciliations.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Payroll & Benefits Administration
Own the payroll process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing.
Track and resolve late or incomplete timecard entries to ensure accurate reporting.
Handle payroll administration, including tax withholdings, deductions, and direct deposit setup.
Collaborate with the finance team on payroll reconciliation, tax filings, and compliance with payroll regulations.
Manage employee benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
Assist during open enrollment periods by answering employee questions and ensuring timely processing of benefit elections.
Hiring, Onboarding & Offboarding
Support hiring efforts by posting job openings, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and preparing offer letters.
Oversee onboarding by ensuring new hire paperwork is completed and orientations are scheduled.
Maintain offer letters and employment agreements and schedule 30-day new hire check-ins.
Manage offboarding tasks, including drafting termination letters, processing final paychecks, and preparing termination packets.
Ensure termination procedures align with company policies and legal compliance.
HR Operations & Compliance
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies.
Work closely with the finance team to ensure payroll accuracy, financial reporting, and compliance with tax regulations.
Assist the HR team with various projects and initiatives as needed.
Collaborate with management to ensure HR policies and processes are effectively communicated and upheld
Job Requirements:
Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3 years of experience in HR, payroll processing, or a related administrative role.
Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws, payroll compliance, and benefits administration.
Proficiency in Google Suite and HR software systems. (Restaurant 365 a plus!)
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Spanish-speaking skills are a bonus!
