What are the responsibilities and job description for the CV Tech position at Hendrick Medical Center?
JOB SUMMARY
- Trains to perform diagnostic cardiovascular procedures under the guidance and oversight of Department Manager and designated staff members. Studies didactic materials independently. Must be highly self motivated to learn. Prior to sitting for registry exams, the trainee will independently perform examinations per physician orders and according to department protocols, generate preliminary reports for physician interpretation, and review physician reports. Charts and charges procedures electronically. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe and effective patient care. Effectively interacts with patient and significant others, while maintaining professional standards. Interacts with Cardiologists and referring physicians according to applicable departmental policies regarding critical findings. Interacts with team leaders and managers to discuss significant findings, clinical situations, workflow status and equipment malfunctions. Exhibits sound critical thinking skills. Works under direct supervision until deemed competent in a specific procedure. Must have outstanding work ethics and integrity. Behaves in accordance with the Principles of Performance. Must attain registry in Vascular or Adult Cardiac ultrasound within 4 years in order to advance to a CV Sonographer. May not continue as a trainee beyond the 4 year mark. On call schedule will be required for cardiac ultrasound when approved by manager.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma with post secondary science courses.
1 year patient care experience or training in related field.
Hands on training and coaching will be available.
