What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Finance/Controller position at Hendricks House Group?
The Hendricks House Group is a non-profit provider of Substance Use Disorder programs that provides Halfway House and outpatient services and is seeking to fill the position of Director of Finance.
This position is responsible for the planning, implementation and/or coordination of all fiscal services. This includes ensuring that established procedures of The Hendricks House Group are followed as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Collaboration and coordination with both internal and external resources are crucial to financial success.
This person should be an accountant with managerial skills. Expected to complete budgets, monthly financials, supervise billing & provide grants management. Experience with Medicaid billing a plus. Position would report to the Executive Director and prepare reports for the Board of Directors. CPA preferred. F/T position w/benefits. Salary negotiable based on experience.
1. Regulatory: Ensures the development, implementation and enforcement of all financial policies and procedures as required by law, licensure, contracts and accreditation. Participates in the Corporate Risk Management process. Ensures that the agency meets all of its legal and financial obligations.
2. Fiscal: Supervises and controls general accounting functions, budgets and reimbursement activities, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, and financial management of grants. Assists in resource development to support agency funding base.
3. Internal and External Communication/Collaboration: Responsible for communication with both internal and external parties to ensure financial and regulatory compliance. Responsible for making formal presentations as needed. Responsible for fiscal and resource utilization reporting to the CQI process.
4. Professional Responsibility: Responsible for adhering to all applicable Federal and State laws, the policies and procedures detailed in The Hendricks House Group Policy and Procedure Manual, The Hendricks House Group Code of Ethics statement and the instruction provided by supervision to include alternative duties. This includes the responsibility to make no statement, or take any action that would knowingly threaten the best interests of the agency, other staff members, and/or of clients. The holder of this position is also responsible for undertaking and sustaining a commitment to job related professional growth.
EDUCATION: Undergraduate Degree with a major in accounting; MA in Administration, Business Management, or Accounting preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Accounting experience in a non-profit facility. Knowledge of automated financial systems and spreadsheet applications. Experience working with QuickBooks
