SUMMARY
The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company and manages all accounting functions, cash control and revenue reporting for all properties as well as manages the accounting department and support staff to handle day-to-day accounting transactions. The Controller will be responsible for journal entries, bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, accounts receivable and daily and monthly cash disbursements and receipts.
JOB DUTIES
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations of commercial property buildings
• Prepare month end close for each respective property and associated monthly financial reports
• Manage and complete general ledger journal entries and cash balances
• Ensures accuracy of all general ledger information
• Review & manage accounts receivable; follow up with respective property for any outstanding items
• Must be proficient with payroll process, payroll taxes as well as sales and occupancy tax
• Review & approve accounts payable for each respective property
• Responsible to complete timely and accurate bank reconciliations
• Review Balance Sheets and Income Statements per property to verify account balances and reasonable revenue and expense amounts
• Set and update forecasts and budgets as well as provide detailed explanations of deviations from budget based on specific materiality thresholds
• Updates and prepares annual depreciation and amortization schedules
• Ensures reports/documents are forwarded to CPA firms and maintains accurate documentation
• Informs management as to any discrepancies or any other problem areas that may exist Meets Accounting Department calendar deadlines
• Prepares multiple account transfers and funding requests as needed Prepares bank deposits as required
• Improves process related to above duties and responsibilities
• Other duties as needed
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree; or five to seven years related experience and/or training in commercial property accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations
• Proficient with Microsoft Platforms, QuickBooks, and other software platforms as required
• Typing and keyboard with efficiency
• Good problem solving and multitasking skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Mathematical skills required and high attention to detail
• Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time salaried position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm with a half hour for lunch. Extended hours may be required as job duties demand.
