Position Overview
The Director of Product Development will lead the charge in bringing new product concepts to life—from initial design through to full production. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the full development cycle, ensuring each design aligns with brand standards and exceeds customer expectations for quality and performance. You’ll collaborate across design, merchandising, and manufacturing teams, manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, and play a key role in product innovation and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and manage the development of new product lines from concept through production.
- Oversee all aspects of costing, sample development, and materials selection.
- Collaborate with design teams to finalize styles and construction details.
- Review prototypes and ensure quality benchmarks are consistently met.
- Work with merchandising and production teams to ensure smooth handoff and execution.
- Explore and integrate new materials and manufacturing techniques that enhance quality and efficiency.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline the development process and accelerate timelines to market.
Qualifications
- Strong background in custom, high-end upholstery product development and manufacturing.
- Proven success in managing complex product development projects.
- Skilled in SolidWorks (3D CAD) and proficient with Google Suite tools.
- Well-polished communicator, comfortable working directly with high-end designers and clients.
- Effective cross-functional collaborator with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Deep knowledge of the furniture industry and development lifecycle.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior leadership experience in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
