Description

The Hennepin County Economic Supports area is seeking to fill two Human Services Supervisor positions. These positions will be responsible for leading and supervising staff who determine client eligibility for public assistance and safety net programs within the healthcare programs. These positions are part of a leadership team that oversees many complex processes and will focus on guiding the agency through continuous improvement initiatives.

Location and hours :

These positions are hybrid and will be performed both on-site at various Hennepin County offices and remote as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday, between 7 : 30 a.m. and 5 p.m. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In these positions you will :

  • Manage service area operations by :

Collaborating with other supervisors, managers, and workforce management to infuse program integrity and quality in a virtual environment with a shared leadership approach.

  • Evaluating and coaching individual performance to improve the individual's strengths and skills.
  • Providing staff with direction and support for policy, program, and processes to ensure appropriate deadlines are met and team members follow a holistic approach for service delivery.
  • Assisting staff with understanding the impact and the importance of their work in relation to the county's mission and purpose.
  • Providing direction on how to collaborate and interact with internal and external partners to ensure positive client outcomes.
  • Utilizing data to manage work and problem solve to improve processes and results.
  • Complete supervisory responsibilities and administrative activities by :
  • Developing staff through engagement and performance management, Individual Development Plans (IDP)s, general check-ins, and assuring required and / or developmental trainings are completed.

  • Approving timecards, overseeing all leave statuses and performance issues, and completing performance reviews.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of our service area by providing feedback and input, participating in committees, projects, and meetings, and suggesting and modeling new processes and procedures.
  • Promote area, department, and county-wide direction and change initiatives.
  • Provide staff with direction and support for agency rules, labor contracts, regulations, and policies.
  • Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Need to have :

  • Four years or more of paraprofessional experience in determining appropriate funding sources for financial assistance, performing support collection activities, and / or providing employment readiness assistance.
  • Note : Supervisory experience in a human services setting may be substituted for up to two years of paraprofessional experience on a year for year basis.
  • Nice to have :

  • Experience :
  • Working with the State of Minnesota's MAXIS and METS eligibility systems to process health care assistance programs.

  • Providing direction or leadership to peers or subordinate co-workers in a human services setting. This experience may be formal supervisory experience or experience mentoring, training, coaching, or in an informal role as a subject matter expert.
  • Problem solving complex situations when there is a conflict or ambiguity.
  • Or education around addressing racial equity, gender equity, LGBTQIA equity, neurodiversity equity, or differing ability equity.
  • Ability to :
  • Respond quickly and effectively to many competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Navigate numerous different systems simultaneously to support customer service outcomes.
  • Help staff develop skills and build their strengths in an ever-changing work environment.
  • Compose clear and concise communications for various audiences.
  • Evaluate current policies and processes to determine areas for clarification and improvement.
