SUMMARY:
We are currently seeking an Office Specialist Principal to join our Interpreter Service team. This casual role will primarily work on-site and during the day shift as needed. This position will not have guaranteed hours or benefits.
Purpose of this position: Under limited supervision, performs work involving the application of technical expertise and independent judgment to the preparation of specialized departmental documents, the use of computerized information systems, public service contact, and administrative support
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collects, evaluates, screens, relays, and responds to a broad range of requests for information from the public and other staff representing different levels of the organization; explains a variety of requirements, policies, and procedures regarding services; writes and revises rules, procedures, and manuals related to departmental policies; analyzes, resolves, and notifies people of action taken regarding difficult problems and concerns
- Processes and verifies complex information and calculations on forms, documents, and requisitions; assists with preparation of financial reports and budgets; monitors and maintains day-to-day departmental budget transactions; processes complex and fiscally sensitive transactions involving department- and county-wide operations
- Inputs, retrieves, and modifies information and data stored in computerized systems; assists other users with problems associated with computerized systems and programs; generates reports using computer software; trains and/or coordinates training of users on the use of computerized systems and programs
- Writes, prepares, and proofreads original correspondence, specialized reports, lists, tables, and other specialized departmental documents
- Works in multiple computer systems/programs and transfers data accurately
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Three years of office clerical experience

- An approved combination of education and experience
- 2 years of post-secondary education preferred
- Some positions require specific experience and/or education related to the position

- Skilled in overseeing the efforts of individuals within the department
- Ability to effectively involve department staff in the application of quality measurement and improvement tools
- Skilled in fostering a positive workplace culture and building inclusive workplace teams
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems and provide instruction on complex processes
- Capable of assisting managers with decisions and activities
- Effective use of all Windows-based applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point
- Ability to appropriately prioritize and carry-out work
