SUMMARY Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Ultrasound Technologist in our Ultrasound department. This casual position will working rotating hours when available. There will also be on-call and holiday rotation. Performs ultrasound scanning procedures. Reports preliminary findings to the Radiologist. Takes anatomical pictures to demonstrate organs. Participates in the education of healthcare providers. RESPONSIBILITIES - Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations - Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images - Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings - Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician - Coordinates work schedule with departmental Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage - Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer’s care - Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department - Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies - Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospital referral or commercial agencies - Coordinate with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided - Provides ultrasound skill training for ultrasound technologist students and Radiology Residents
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications: - Associate’s degree in ultrasound technology and a graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasound Technology by CAAHEP - Certification or certification eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). If “eligible”, employee must be certified within one year of hire - Maintains minimum CE credits as mandated by the accrediting body ARDMS - Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of employment Preferred Qualifications: - One years of ultrasound experience or internship at HCMC - Proficient in Abdomen, OB/Gyn and Small Parts
