General Statement of Duties
CodeRVA Regional High School seeks a passionate, highly-qualified, experienced, professional educator with extensive knowledge of current trends in special education and in educational methodology. CodeRVA's highly-innovative instructional model will require a flexible educator willing to build individual relationships with a diverse student body with a range of learning needs and learn and adapt instruction to personalize learning to meet student needs while ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal requirements.
This is an 11-month teaching position.
Essential Duties
The employee in this position designs and implements instruction for students with disabilities at CodeRVA.
Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education. Three years prior teaching experience is required. Prior experience working with students of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and ability to speak Spanish are preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.
Additional Information
The minimum salary for this 11-month / 239-day position is $61,123 (bachelor's) or $64,057 (master's). The salary quoted is based upon the 2024-25 financial plan and is subject to change with the adoption of the 2025-26 financial plan. Annual salaries are prorated based upon the work begin date.

Essential Duties
The employee in this position designs and implements instruction for students with disabilities at CodeRVA.
- Develops IEPs and 504s for students that comply with CodeRVA and VDOE regulations and guidelines in coordination with students' home zoned high schools
- Maintains student caseload in regard to compliance with IEP development and three year re-evaluations, communication and consultation with other teachers and related service providers (e.g., student accommodations, SOL testing information)
- Gathers ongoing instructional and behavioral data
- Plans and adjusts daily instructional and behavioral programs based on data
- Plans, facilitates and monitors student progress in, and assesses skills in communication (oral and written), collaboration, critical thinking, and confidence
- Communicates with parents, students, outside agencies and other professionals.
- Assesses student progress and reports to parents, at minimum, through quarterly IEP progress reports
- Implements instruction and behavior management
- Facilitates IEP meetings for caseload students using established CodeRVA meeting protocols
- Maintains familiarity with Virginia Standards of Learning and assessment system
- Functions as a member of a professional team
- Carries out transition activities with parents and other professionals
- Supervises students in non-instructional time (before school, after school, student activities, fire drills)
- Ensures compliance with existing applicable federal and state statutes and local policies, regulations and guidelines related to public schools
- Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence
- Plans, directs, and evaluates the work of an instructional assistant (as needed)
- Uses IEP software(as needed)
- Performs other duties as established by School Board Policy.
