Water Facility/Reclamation Operations Superintendent

General Statement of Duties Closing Date : This position closes on Monday, January 27, 2025. Directs the operational activities at the Water Reclamation Facility of the Department of Public Utilities and serves as acting manager of the facility in the absence of the Facility Engineer; does related work as required. Essential Duties The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and abilities : Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of advanced wastewater treatment and environmental engineering. Ability to plan, communicate and direct the work of a variety of paraprofessional, technical and clerical employees. Ability to perform wastewater computations, interpret data and information and to make comprehensive recommendations to wastewater treatment processes and equipment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public. Ability to express self clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Good professional judgment. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a bachelor's degree, preferably in civil / environmental engineering, and two (2) years of professional water or wastewater operations experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Additional Information Job is located to the Henrico County Water Reclamation Facility located at 9101 WRVA Road in Varina. A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee. Possession of a Class I, Virginia Wastewater Operator Certification or attainment of such certification within one (1) year from date of employment. The successful candidate will have no felony convictions, any felony convictions must be disclosed and must comply Virginia Code Section 18 VAC 160-30-60.
