What are the responsibilities and job description for the RECREATION AIDE (PART TIME) position at Henry County Government?
Description
The purpose of this part time classification is to coordinate and implement recreational activities for operations of the Henry County Senior Services Department.
Examples of Duties
- Plans, organizes and implements activities, classes, trips, and special events at an assigned Senior Center; serves as assistant and/or instructor for classes and activities; assists in coordinating daily activities of assigned Senior Center; encourages senior residents to participate in activities.
- Assists participants at registration desk; provides public information about recreational programs; registers participants for classes, activities and events; assists in maintaining registration filing system; works with and coordinates efforts of volunteers, instructors and community partners on site; assists in preparation of classes, activities and events.
- Ensures safety and security of equipment and facilities; completes accident and incident forms as needed and forwards to appropriate personnel for processing.
- Performs customer service functions; provides routine information/assistance regarding department/division services, activities, procedures, fees, or other issues; distributes forms/documentation as requested; responds to routine questions or complaints; assists in resolving participant complaints by recording complaints and referring to appropriate management.
- Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures; receives and reviews various documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards, or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, flyers, correspondence, and other documentation; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
- Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review, or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
- Communicates with supervisor, other County employees, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Requires High School diploma or to be currently enrolled, and experience in athletics, sports, or generation recreation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
Special Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age.

- Knowledge of local government operations, recreation related programs, policies and plans, and modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar programs.
- Skill in the use of computers and software applications related to the essential functions of the job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and have close visual acuity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and may require standing for extended periods of time. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, temperature and noise extremes, or violence.
