Job Overview:
The Bus Monitor is a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of preschool students during transportation. This position requires strong discipline strategies, effective communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining proper records and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist school drivers in maintaining discipline on school buses
- Monitor and assist students while buses are in operation
- Document student information, recordkeeping, and completing route surveys
- Assure seat belts, harnesses, and wheelchair clamps are secured as required
- Communicate with classroom aides, teachers, principals, and parents regarding student background, medical problems, and behavior
- Maintain current knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures
- Assist handicapped children on and off the bus and escort children across the street upon return home
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum age of 16 years old (for financial compensation)
- Must pass an initial physical examination and tuberculosis test as required by Kentucky laws and regulations
- Completion of annual training as required by 702 KAR 5:150
Working Conditions:
