Position Description Summary

Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for a full-time Administrative Assistant to the Associate Dean of Industrial Technology.

The Assistant to the Associate Dean supports the services and functions provided by the Academic Affairs Unit while fostering a team-focused environment. Serves as the administrative support person for the Associate Dean. Models' concepts of outstanding customer service and utilizes effective communications skills in providing assistance and accurate information to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Facilitates and coordinates special projects in support of the school requiring independent judgment and critical analysis. Gathers data, analyzes, and produces reports employed in decision-making at school and college-wide levels. Assists in support of special projects and other duties, as assigned. Employs problem-solving and conflict resolution skills appropriately. Assists in the continuous improvement and execution of processes and procedures that ensure quality service and compliance with school procedures and college-wide policies. Contributes productively to team meetings as well as school and / or college-wide committees and workgroups.

Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. - 4 : 30 p.m.

Some hybrid work may be available as determined by the department. Schedule changes will be determined and finalized with supervisor at time of hire and may change based on departmental needs and the College's operations.

Core Competencies and Qualifications

  • Education -Associate degree or combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience - Two years of administrative assistant experience in a high-volume office.
  • Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Clerical Skills - Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, taking shorthand, and using and completing forms. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office 365.
  • Computer Skills - Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to

    Reporting directly to the Associate Dean for Industrial Technology and working collaboratively with the Administrative Assistant to the Associate Dean for Business, CIS, and Culinary Arts, the Administrative Assistant to the Associate Dean will :

  • 45% Serve as the administrative support person for the Dean / Associate Dean.
  • 25% Facilitate and coordinate special projects in support of the school requiring independent judgement and critical analysis.
  • 15% Gather data, analyze, and produce reports employed in decision-making at school and college-wide levels.
  • 10% Assist in support of special projects and other duties, as assigned
  • 5% Support the services and functions provided by the Academic Affairs Unit while fostering a team-focused environment.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement and execution of processes and procedures that ensure quality service and compliance with school procedures and college-wide policies.
  • Model concepts of outstanding customer service and utilize effective communication skills in aiding and accurate information to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Employ problem solving and conflict resolution skills appropriately.
