Paralegal/Legal Assistant Position:
Our firm is seeking an experienced individual to join our busy team in a full-time position that combines the roles of both a Paralegal and a Legal Assistant. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of litigation experience.
In this hybrid role, you will assist attorneys with both paralegal responsibilities, such as case research, and legal assistant duties, including administrative support. Candidates must have excellent attention to detail, research skills, the ability to work under pressure, and strong communication and organizational abilities. Responsibilities include scheduling client appointments, depositions, and trial witnesses; compiling trial exhibits; proofreading legal documents; maintaining client files; filing pleadings with the court; drafting memos for attorney review; and managing attorney calendars. Punctuality and strong attendance are highly valued in our firm.
Salary Range Explanation:
The salary for this position ranges from $41,000 to $64,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Several factors may determine your starting salary, including your previous work experience, education level, and whether you hold a paralegal certification. Candidates with formal paralegal education or certifications and substantial real-world legal experience may qualify for the higher end of the pay scale.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate case facts and conduct research on laws, regulations, and legal articles.
- Organize and maintain documents in paper and electronic filing systems.
- Gather and arrange evidence and legal documents for attorney review and case preparation.
- Write reports to assist in trial preparation.
- Draft correspondence and legal documents.
- Obtain affidavits and formal statements for use in court.
- Assist attorneys during trials by managing exhibits, taking notes, or reviewing transcripts.
- File legal documents with courts and opposing counsel.
- Coordinate service of process.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, attorneys, and outside vendors to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions.
