What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Receivable/Collections Clerk position at Hercules Industries, Inc?
The primary function of the Accounts Receivable Clerk is to maintain and collect on portfolio of accounts. Work includes posting of all customer payments and assisting customers with billing questions or issues. $24.00-$30.00 per hour. 8am-4:30pm M-F.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains assigned accounts, maintenance, writes and mails past due letters. Involves a high level of customer service and phone calls to customers when appropriate.
- Monitor and reconcile sales tax for all location.
- Process and maintain new credit/cash applications.
- Assist with answering incoming phone calls.
- Application of customer payments.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, and other special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Requires 1-2 years’ experience in an accounts receivable/credit department.
- 1-2 years’ experience with both commercial and residential mechanical contractors a plus.
- Knowledge of sales tax scenarios in multiple states a plus (Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Arizona, Utah, Texas, and Nebraska).
- Strong working knowledge of PC environment and MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Must be customer oriented and motivated with excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong communication skills are critical as this position is in constant contact with both customers and other employees located at all branches and departments of the company.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under time constraints and strict deadlines.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to write routine reports and routine correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers so that the accounting department is able to adequately meet its objectives.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations required to accurately complete assigned tasks.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to use sound judgment and problem solving skills to analyze employee technical problems and to recommend the proper course of action. Ability to organize and prioritize job projects and requirements.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office.

Working schedule will be 40 hours a week and should primarily be between 8 am to 4:30 pm. However, these hours may vary at times based upon staffing needs of the accounting department. Employee may be required to work overtime, and occasional Saturday’s and Sunday’s.
