Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our finance team. The Controller will be responsible for analyzing the financial status of the organization, collaborating with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to develop and implement long-term financial goals, and ensuring financial stability. This individual will oversee a team of accounting specialists to ensure accurate financial records and provide strategic financial insights to management. The Controller will lead all activities in the preparation of all financial reports, statements, operating budgets, and internal controls.


Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and manage the general ledger to ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
  • Lead and develop a team of accounting staff, assigning tasks, providing performance feedback, and coaching for career growth. 
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Analyze and investigate general ledger activity to validate the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting.
  • Prepare all financial reports, including detailed analysis and narrative responses to senior management.
  • Provide frequent financial performance reports to key stakeholders, highlighting variances and trends.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets, and oversee both internal and external audits.
  • Maintain a comprehensive system of accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistent and effective financial management.
  • Ensure adherence to all internal processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist management in developing operating budgets based on sales and marketing projections; produce the annual budget and forecasts, and monitor/report significant budget and forecast deviations.
  • Establish and enforce financial policies and procedures to guide decision-making and maintain control over company finances.
  • Handle various ad hoc financial projects as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the finance department’s objectives.
  • Foster effective communication and maintain positive working relationships with company employees and external stakeholders.

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices.
  • In-depth understanding of internal controls and best practices for financial processes.
  • Superior analytical, problem-solving, and financial management skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex financial concepts and data to stakeholders in an easily understandable manner.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate work within deadlines.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and results-oriented with the ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability to collaborate as part of a team and contribute to overall company success.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proven experience in accounting and financial management, with leadership experience managing a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, including at least 5 years in management role.
  • Understanding and proficiency in IFS, SAP or similar ERP software
  • Advanced financial analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.


Location:

  • Open to candidates from Louisville, Kentucky.


Salary Range and Bonus:

·        Salary - $160,000-$180,000

·        Max Bonus Potential – 25% of Salary
