DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Controller provides routine assistance with making decisions that impact the results of co-workers, clients or the company, making decisions that affect other people, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the organization. in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations, and are delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties by the Executive Director or other assigned supervisory personnel to assure that the highest degree of quality resident satisfaction can be maintained at all times. Primary duties include managing the Accounting Department with at least 50% of the time performing exempt work.. Planning and controlling the budget of the department and facility, employee hiring, counseling and termination and monitoring legal compliance measures within the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
The following job functions have been determined to be essential to the position of a Controller. Because of fluctuations in workload demands, as well as tasks often overlapping, frequency ranges and percentages vary by assignment, day of week, day, evening or night shift, etc. However, low frequency and percentage or duration of time spent on a particular task may not indicate lack of importance. - Oversee all accounts receivable & accounts payable functions and the maintenance of resident files as handled by Business Manager & Billing Clerk.
- Supervise, manage, evaluate and counsel staff members
- Provides progressive disciplinary notices and recommendation to the employee assistance program
- Completes 90 day, Annual and Merit performance evaluations
- Sign disbursement checks for operating & security deposit accounts.
- Maintain cash logs.
- Maintain fixed asset listings and depreciation schedules.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for bank accounts & all balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare month-end closings.
- Prepare monthly financial report packages.
- Hold monthly financial meetings with Executive Directors & department managers.
- Prepare Workers’ Comp Insurance Quarterly Self-Audit Reports.
- Assist with budgeting process for annual financial/business plans.

- Prepare various financial analyses as needed.
- Support Executive Directors & department managers in financial matters.
- Support Regional Controller in matters of accounting policies & procedures.
- Work as MOD on rotation.
- Read and understand the Emergency and Disaster Plan.
- Know the location and operation of all fire and emergency equipment located in the general work area. Know evacuation routes and exits in the work area.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service training sessions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
As an essential function of the job, Controller, are regularly called on to effectively report emergencies such as residents’ condition changes, as well as accidents and incidents, complaints and grievances by residents and their families, etc. It is determined that the Controller has the ability to communicate with others and do not pose a direct threat to the safety or health of self or others.

EDUCATION REQUIRED
In the interest of residents/patients, Controller will have the preferred minimum educational background of having a Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent experience in a senior living community.
EXPERIENCE
The Controller will have a college degree in Business or Accounting and a minimum of 5 years experience.

A Controller must be capable of lifting a minimum of forty pounds.
